Title: Super Bowl meals
Post by: LPS on February 02/09/23, 09:38:17 AM
Getting kind of late but it dawned on me last night that no one is talking about great Super Bowl vittles yet.   I don't know what we are going to do neither yet but are going grocery shopping on Sat so need to decide by then.  Thought about a pork pot roast but that is kind of a during the week thing.  I am not a good wing cooker but a batch of them may be good with some hors douvres also. ???  Homemade pizza?  We made one and it was good and want to try it again.

No parties, but chili is the tradition for our small gatherings.  Snack on ships and salsa beforehand.  Nothing extravagant.

We usually have good pile o grub, but I'm not feeling it this round. I guess I could care less about da game. Think it's the Eagles,  hate em...

For me, it ain't so much the team as it is the fans.  Packer fans are insufferable, but Eagles fans are downright hostile - bordering on criminal.

My brother will place some bets for my other brother and I and I think I will take the Eagles and like you said I am not even excited about it.  Hope I win the money though.  Would like to see KC win just because of that.  BUT betting with my heart is what dropped me like a rock in our tourney.

anyone got a good chip dip?

I'll probably do the simple store-bought meatballs and wieners.

I'm between wings or meatball sandwiches with lots of sauce and mozzarella at this point.  May make some potato salad or get some of Dotch's friend Mrs. Jerrys.  Her stuff is real good. I like a good dip too PE.  That sounds good.  Spinach dip is a fave.

We usually do a good spread for the game and have our son and his wife over but don't really care who wins.
But I think my wife is routing for the little cute Chiefs QB! 😆

Stop at the bank first if you are getting Mrs. Jerry's. It's a crime what they charge for potato salad.

I think when you figure out the cost to make the tater salad yourself it's not that bad a price then, just my thoughts...

We like her stuff too. :happy1: It's the potato salad most of the time but we grab some of her coleslaw & mac salad every once in a while too.

I'm hoping they have some of her Deviled Egg spud salad at the store tomorrow I'll get some.  I like the mac salad too.  Don't think we have tried the cole slaw.  Will try it.

My brother, sister, & I all worked at my uncles grocery store in highschool starting in the early 60's. It was only a block from Hormel's main gate so a lot of the workers at the plant stopped there on their way home. It was mainly for our meat counter but we sold a lot of Mrs. Gerry's salads too, back then.

I think appetizers for the Super Bowl is just an excuse to eat, like St Patrick's day is just an excuse to drink!
You aren't Irish and don't care who wins!! 😆😆

We were kind of planning to eat around 5.  I'm throwing the poppers in the smoker now and can munch on them in a little over an hour. and then put the chicken in the smoker for 2 1/2 hours.  It's all coming together now.  I just heard them say half time is 35 minutes.  Too long for me.

The wife got a grilling gift package at work a few years ago and that was part of it.  Rarely use it but worked great for this.  Need to use it more often.
