The end of February as usual brings normally tougher days fishing. While we have had up and down days when it comes to the bite we are still seeing fairly consistent crappie action. The size average has come down to small and medium size fish being the norm but anglers are still coming up with limits. The bite has been basically a window of time where they seem to put on the feed bag. If you missed it chances of success are definitely not in the anglers favor. Today we went out at nine this morning and in two and a half hours caught a nice mess of fish. By one o'clock we were packed up and heading for lake trout. The glow jigs have been our favorite but today gold outfished anything else. Starting to see some walleye action and this will get better as the magical month of March approaches.

Lake trout have become a little tougher to catch as again we are seeing the February blues and the impending arrival of March. Live bait has out produced most other lures. Flats located adjacent to deep water seem to be more consistent but shelves and points will light up once we start to see the signs of a long winter coming to an end. Start looking in forty to sixty feet of water and drill lots of holes.

Truck travel on the lakes is safe but we are seeing deeper snow drifts with the winds. We dug out twice yesterday. We highly recommend bringing a shovel as this can save anglers from a long walk.

Stay safe and hope to see you out there.
