I didn't catch the whole story, but i just heard that Glenn Taylor had a statement about how Kevin Garnett quit on the team last year, I think his wording was that he shut down at the end of games.

Those are pretty bold statements from a class act NBA owner!

Anyone know the whole story?

The comments sound bad and I hope he did not mean them the way it sounds.  You can't question the fact that KG always goes out there to win.  I really hope this does not change KG's thoughts of us here.  I am hoping that he can somehow finish he career with the Wolves even if that means signing a 1 day contract just so he can reitre as a Wolf.

After reading this entire story a couple of things come to mind....

How can you blame someone like KG for opting for a few more losses at the end of a major losing season. I know it's not right, but it happens in all sports. He knows he has a spot on the roster and will play again the next season..... The very young guys play hard because they are fighting for a roster spot for the next season.

At that time, KG had no idea he would not be a Wolve and was looking for management to get a higher pick in the draft.

Can't hardly blame him for that, he just wants to win. I think they even said that he sat out the last 6 games of the season before.... Same scenario, but management backed him up. Now that he is gone, the story changes.

KG is still #1 in my book!

Screw KG. He is a money hungry selfish  :blablabla: :blablabla: :blablabla:

If he really wanted to be a Mn TW then he would of taken a pay cut and said GET SOME MORE TALENT. But instead he said give ME THIS MUCH MONEY or I am gone. How can you respect that???????????????

Your absolutely right. Pack up his sorry  :censored:  and send him over to Chicago where he belongs. I'm sure that the "City of Big Shoulders" will be able to find a spot on their roster for him somehow. ;)

I don't follow basketball at all.  If the twinkies are on and there is nothing better to do I will watch.  If the Queens are playing when I am not out hunting I will watch them as well.  However, comma pause for effect, how many of you would be willing to stay at your current job, take a pay cut, and not be the winning team?  Conversly how many of you would jump at the chance to get onto a new and better job and make a couple mill more a year?  I WOULD!  Take care and N Joy the Hunt././Jimbo

There was no reason for Taylor to throw KG under the bus.  What did this statement prove?  I think it was very poor for the owner to make a statement about the best player the T-wolves have have and will ever have play for them.  KG was a class act the whole time he was in MN.

KG tanking it? does not surprise me. There has always been talk that in the last several years that KG would only play with his buddies and things were not always as rosy as they appeared. I never supported the notion that KG deserved a chance to win a championship. Bring him back for a one day contract to finish his career as a wolve? Why? did we win anything with him here in MN..

MN did wrap a lot of there payroll on one player in a team sport. With KG gone some new faces are here and some talent. Will the Wolves win, that remains to be seen. As for getting rid of McHale and Taylor. Taylor owns the team.. it's his team.. McHale time might be better fishing..

KG was paid a very fine salary to entertain me, a fan. I don't owe him anything.  :coffee:

A Player does not tank a team does. This is the stupidest thing ever. They team gained by tanking they got to keep their draft pick. It takes a whole team to lose the game. I can see refusing to play if the team wants to tank the game I would not want to be part of it either. I would say hey if you want to lose take me out I will not play half way and not try.

Throwing in the towel is common in the NBA that is why they went ot the draft lottery

Did they tank the last two season? yes along with 5 other teams Was it KG choice to tank? I doubt it highly he had nothing to gain

Taylor is an idiot, he stuck his foot in his mouth so far that when he bends over you can see the shoe laces. Of course this is from the same guy that tried to beat the league with illegal contracts !!

This is one reason of Many why I will not watch the NBA

When did he ever say that?  It was more a question of wanting to win than making more money.

Yet he signed at contract with Boston that wil pay him 60 mil for three years when his current contract expires in two years. Not bad for just wanting to win...

So do you want him to play for free?  Then have the money to give him and he took it, big deal.  My point was that he did not go to management and say pay me 20 million a year or I am leaving.  They are the ones that convinced him that it would be best for everyone if he accepted a trade to Boston.  As far as coming back so he can retire here.  That would be more for the fans benefit than his and not uncommon at all in sports.  I don't know if anyone has noticed, but it is a ghost town over at Target Center this year without KG.

Its too bad and actually I blame the wolves. But whats the difference if you make 15 million a year or 20 million. I understand both sides.
