Is anyone doing tournaments this summer/fall?

I would like to hear if you have anything planed?

Have you been in tourneys before?

Have you won?

What have you won

And was it worth it, from the time to buy everything you need for it, to the winnings??

thanks

Thinking about the MTT, but I hate committing to something because i'm allready too busy. I still might though and just fish 2-3 of them.

I'm like Pat, way to busy this year. I used to fish the walley trail years ago....it was fun, takes up way to much time.

I'll be fishing in the "City auto glass Walleye Classic" on Vermilion, May 17th. With my old partner "Canada Dave" We finished in 10th place last year, in a 52 team field and cashed a check. We were only 2.5 oz's out of second place. They expect to get 100 teams this year and first place is worth $10,000.00 :)

Dave and I fished the Masters walleye circut (MWC) for 10 years. We qualified for the World walleye championship on 2 occasions, 1987, 1992. You had to be in the top 50 teams to make the chamionship.

I have also won the Vermilion Walleye classic 3 times and finshed 2nd twice. My wife and I finished 2nd in the old Northwest airline tournament
(Walleye) on Lake Milacs many years ago and she caught the big fish of the tournament.

I also fish the "Vermilion Muskie Challenge" every year with my wife. We have so far finished 2nd twice. It takes a different set of priorities to really excell at tourny fishing. Lots of money and time are spent with little or no reward, most of the time.

I still get a big charge out of the takeoff on the first day, and I still like the competition. Unfortunately I just got sick of being on the road all summer long. I'm a lot happier guiding and just fishing a couple good local tournaments. :fishing:

Some anglers just don't have the temperment for tournament fishing. If you do it can be a lot of fun. It has gotten to be a very expencive hobby in recent years. :banghead:

I think doing things like that with your kids is great...

Whats really nice is these days more and more dads are taking their kids with them fishing.. And cause of that more and more are really getting into fishing.. Its something they can sit with and tell story's how they went with (grandpa) fishing when they were a kid too
think of the memories

I fished some fishers of men bass tourneys a few years back, I dont know if there even around anymore but we had a blast and even though it was a christian based tour they never once tried to preach to anyone. then I had another child and the ranger went buh bye..Hopefully soon funds will be well again. if they are still around check em out.
