Hey All,
It's official, Pike Bay the Pike river and East and West Two rivers will be off limit
to anglers, for at least the first week of the season.

The last time the bay was closed to angling was 1998 and it remained closed for two weeks into the season.

This is a real bummer for all the shoreline anglers on HooDoo point. The campground is always booked solid for the opener, because of the excellent shore fishing the first couple weeks of the season.

Why?

Pike bay and the Pike river represent about 10% of the Walleye spawn on the east end of Lake Vermilion. There is a state hatchery on the river, just above Pike bay.

With the late ice out there will be to many big females still running up the river to spawn. Closing the bay to fishermen, helps to protect them while they're spawning.
