The pannies are still on fire in the Bemidji area. With the melt continuing daily, and o2 returning to the shallows, fish are up and biting! We made it out for a few hours on Sat. sight fishing and stand up fishing in a shallow bay. We easily iced a couple hundred pannies during the day, mostly 'gills, with some dandy crappies mixed in. We also found the pike to be in shallow feeding on 'gills every chance they got. We had at least 10 pike on throughout the day, nearly all hitting a 'gill on the way up. I even had a pike smoke my transducer right as I pulled a bluegill into the hole. We saw and caught numerous pike ranging from 20" up to the skinny but lengthy 35" fish below.

Perch are also still very active in the area. Bemidji, Blackduck, Plantan, Cass, Leech, and Winni are all doing very well!

We've got a week or so left of fishable ice for sure, so get up and try your hand at some fast and furious pannie action!
