My frustration is growing as I haven't seen a deer from my stand in a while. My cameras have the majority of the deer moving in the very early morning from 3am until about 6am. Now I have friends texting me while I'm hunting and they are seeing deer in the evening while hunting food plots. I hunt around Hinkley/Sandstone area and haven't seen a deer on stand since opening weekend. So I figured we could all help each other in our areas on what time and where you are seeing the deer.....like in oaks, bedding areas, creeks or food plots.
Let the small bucks walk. Don't assume the neighbors will shoot them if you don't. If you shoot him what chance does that buck have to grow......ZERO!

the stand i hunt is next to a heavily used trail, looks like a cattle trail. sat my first evening in it saturday and didnt see any deer. most deer i see are between 7am and 8:30am then it quiets down. now my other stands are over food plots and ill see deer in them most mornings and evenings but mainly does in those stands though.

I have been spending a lot of time hunting around Lino Lakes.
And let’s just say the deer are not moving at least in the evening that is
I can’t really get out there in the mornings so maybe I am just missing them.  :doah:

The three times I've been out in the morning I have seen deer between 7-8am, with a little movement into 9. The one night I was out I saw two 1-1/2 deer, and one doe as I was getting out of my stand.

Not a ton of movement.

When I have been gettting skunked a few days in a row I will back my stand out of an area and pick a nice easy to get to vantage point where I can see treelines, field edges, etc., and stick my stand up about eight feet, and write the evening off as I watch everything to see where the buggers are coming out at.

I did this once in an open pasture that had a couple of trees, and a ton of cows that overlooked a spot that I hunt. I'm sure if any farmer saw me they would have thought I was crazy. I did however get a good idea where the deer were coming from and the next day stuck a doe.

I concurr down in SEMN jb2643!

Morning hunts is where I've been spotting the most deer. Weekend wasn't fruitfull as the 60-70 degrees didn't help anything out.

I agree that I've had better deer movement in the morning. Had two does less than 10 yards on sar morning but held off because of the new  :censored: rules about killing one deer in our area. I think that rule is so stupid.

Passed up a 7 pointer on Friday morning about 8:30 by a bedding area. Saturday morning My brother in law seen a doe around 9 AM but couldn't get a shot off. Shot a fawn Saturday evening around 6:15 during early gun season. Then on Sunday morning with the overcast I sat longer than normal and it payed off. At 10:30AM I shot a doe. It's a full moon so they're moving later in the morning. Talked to my cousing and the majority of the deer they seen that weekend were mid morning also.

For the first time in a while, I saw 7 deer near my house, 2 small bucks, 3 does and 2 fawns, the 2 bucks were playing together. It was about 6:45pm earlier tonight.

I just got back from an evening hunt.  I saw a doe on the field I was hunting at 6:15.  About 5 minutes later another came out.  They were 200 yards away.   I tried hitting the rattle bag to see if they would be curious enough to investigate.  Wrong, after 10-15 seconds of rattling, they bolted from the field.
About 10 minutes later I spotted a deer coming along the edge of the woods.  As it approached I could see it was a buck.  I had a doe decoy out about 15 yards.  I had one of those plastic scented leaves on the decoy.  The buck came within 12 yards of my stand.  He was a nice 8pt with high but not to wide antlers.  I would guess he was 2 1/2 years old.  I had him at full draw for a while but I guess I just wasn't done buck hunting yet so I let down.  I may regret this later.

DE you're making me real jealous right now. Great experience I'm sure. Usually experiences like that to me are compared to that one great shot in golf that keeps you coming back even though you were plus 24 on nine holes.

Couple years ago I had terrible luck throughout the season. Dry and hot, no movement, one of my permission areas was sold, you know the drill. One fine snowy Nov. morning I rattled in a small six point right underneath my stand, from there he decided to make a scrape and use the licking branch right above him in the process all within ten yards of me. That made my year, some measly six pointer that showed me firsthand how scrapes are created and used.

It's those that keep us coming back...... :toast:

My cousin that hunts in southern Wisconsin was out this morning and had quit a few small bucks running and chasing the does off the food plot. He said they were grunting like crazy and fighting for a few seconds then chasing again. Then a big buck came in but just out of range. Didn't chase or anything but was probably just curious. The young ones are a little eager there it sounds. I'm thinking in another week and we'll be seeing some of the same action if some of you haven't already. I can barely sleep this time of year. My sick days at work will be put in use soon and may just have to have one of those week long sickness at the end of the month. :puke:

Drove through Wisc. this weekend and there were quite a few small bucks that had been hit by cars.  Before this weekend I had only ever seen does that had been hit.  I guess the bucks (at least the small ones) must be starting to chase them does.

I bow hunted two different Woods this weekend and did quite a bit of scouting for Rifle season on both pieces.  I did not fine one single scrape in either woods yet but a few rubs is all.  Did see one nice 10-pionter while in the stand with 2-does that came through about 50-yards out.  He was chasing the first doe that came through.  Did manage to get a few Timber Wolves on the trail cams though, along with deer too.

They are moving right now as I am wasting time writing this.

At 9:00 AM today a small 8 pointer ran though my yard.
Now I just saw a doe across the street. We have many deer around here but all I ever really see is tracks in the yard or driveway. But now they are cruising

 Just north of Andover

Was out to a new property I recieved permission to hunt south of the Metro on Saturday morning @ 11AM getting a stand up when a doe and two fawns came by at 20 yards while I was hanging like a monkey from the tree limbs!  Went out later that evening with the wife to her dad's place and saw a little 7 pointer come down the trail from her direction.  He was not eating anything on his tour, just walking, sniffing and looking along the way.  After the evening hunt I asked the wife, who has not shot a deer yet in her first year of hunting with me, why she didn't shoot that deer.  She calmly replied "he was too little."  I am still trying to figure out if she is only willing to harvest old mature deer because the thought of killing a younger deer is hard for her or if she is just trying to out do her hubby!!!  Could be both!  Good luck to everyone out there in the next few days.  I think we are going to start seeing some big deer starting to move and be harvested.

Hunted my Uncles land in Backus, MN tonight and at 5:40pm the light switch turned on. Bucks came from every direction. All 5 of them were 1 1/2 year olds. The little guys were still in their bachelor groups. 2 of them went at it pretty hard for a little bit and a 3rd joined in. It was cool watching it. I messed with 2 of them with a doe bleat and some soft grunts. They searched high and low for the source of that sound. No does or fawns just 5 small bucks. I love hunting a thick haze/drizzle for me deer always move then. I was hunting over a food source (beans, clover and corn)
