Friday 6/20 Report

Today I fished with Steve Smorkel and 2 of his business clients. We ended up having caught a nice bag of smallmouth and largemouth Bass fishing from 5:00 am till 12:00 pm. A variety of baits and methods were used wacky worms, drop shot, jigs and live crawler rigs. After 4 cut offs Bruce managed to get a 30 inch pike into the boat before it cut his line. The smallmouth were caught in relatively deep water while largemouth's were fished in 13 ft or less.

I was telling the guys about a client last year that got careless and lost one of my rods over the side in 31 ft of water. :banghead:  Within 15 minutes of hearing the story one of today's crew managed to duplicate the same feat by loosing another one of my combos over the side in 28 ft of water. :fudd:  Needless to say there was a long period of silence after the accident.  :whistling:

Two trips ago another client had the same thing happen in my boat, :oops1: but this time it was his own rod and reel and he lunged over the side to trap it successfully between the boat and his hand. Unfortunately for him the next fish he set the hook on that rod snapped. I figured it was from when he trapped his rod against the boat it put a nick in the rod creating a week spot.

**We who go a-fishing are a peculiar people. Like other men and women in many respects, we are like one another, and like no others, in other respects. We understand each other's thoughts by an intuition of which we know nothing. We cast our lines on many waters, where memories and fancies and facts rise, and we take them and show them to each other, and small or large, we are content with our catch.

See Ya on the water,

Lee

 Thanks for the condolences Doug.

Well, The way I have to look at it is like this. That rod and reel will now have the opportunity to see more fish out of my boat than it ever would have in my boat.

Note: My equipment policy is: If you :censored: loose it you bought it!  :moon:

Perfect. I'm glad to hear it doesn't come out of your pocket. Plus it adds to the story they get to tell, "...Yeah it was so big it tore the rod right out of my hand!"
