Morning everyone,  I'm using a Mossberg 935 Magnum and this last weekend I took it out and did some patterning with it.  I'm using the 24" barrel with the standard turkey choke and my patterns are really spread out.  I put a number of rounds through it and the patterns were pretty consistent.  I'm looking for others feedback on aftermarket chokes and any information you can give is appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey Synic... My turkey gun is an old Rem 870 with a 21" aftermarket bbl.  I had a terrible pattern with the full choke that I had for it.  Tried  an extra full, a super full and it got tighter but still wasnt overly impressed.  Talked to this turkey guide/ guru at the game fair one summer and he said to try different shells with those different tubes I bought... boy was he right!  I actually got the best pattern with the not as tight extra full extended Hastings tube with these Activ (no longer made, and I only have eight left!) max loads that are nearly equal to a 10g load.  It was interesting how I got completely different patterns as I switched loads and tried them all in the different tubes!  It cost me a little $$, but it was well worth it... minus the sore shoulder and the deep bruising.... :whistling: :rotflmao:

Thanks for the reply!

Great idea.  I used Hevi-Shot (4s or 5s, can't recall and I'm at work), they were nice cause I could buy a 5 round box.  I'll try some different brands of the same size and compare the results.

Either way, it's cheaper than buying a new $90 choke right?  And I can have the fun of shooting.

Try Hevi-13 in #5 shot. 3" 1 5/8 ounce. I have seen 5 round boxes but most are 10. It is a little expensive but the results are well worth it for me. I also shoot them through an undertaker choke in my Browning BPS. With this combo 50yds is not out of the question. 20-30 plus bb's in the kill zone every time. However I prefer to get them about 10-15. That is the fun part about turkey hunting. The closer the better! Jelly a head!!!!!!!

Thanks!  It was the Hevi-13 shot in my original post, I was at work and couldn't recall what they were other than Hevi.

I've ordered an Undertaker choke; I was pleasantly surprised to see they were only $19.  I thought for that price I can't go wrong even if it doesn't work out.  It should be here in 3 - 6 days which is just enough time before I head up for some more patterning / clay shooting!

Just wanted to say thanks Auggie!  I went out this weekend with the undertaker and some Hevi shot and was extremely pleased at the results I got.  Shots were tight and consistent out to 40 yards (didn't try farther than that).

Thanks a ton for the information!
