Well Guys I knew I shoulda stayed closer to home this wknd but how can ya stop a guy that wants to chase a few of the popple birds.  Still way too many leaves up north on the shore and a damp wknd didnt help much but checkin the trail cams made me feel to be lucky..Lots and lots of decent animals...As for the grouse maybe a couple a weeks will do the trick!!

Nothin wrong to get out though and "scratch the itch".....  I used to get out on opener without the dog cause ya couldnt see him in the cover at all, couldnt see the birds that flushed... tough enough when the leaves are mostly down ... My rule of thumb now is let em be till October, then theyre not so skittish when ya actually have a chance... Its tough to leave em be though when ya like to grouse hunt as much as I do! I think sedation may be in order for people like me...

I can't wait!  I will be heading to Ely in about a month.  I am still trying to find a lodge that will take a dog that time of year that won't make me take out a 2nd mortgage.
