Sept 17 & 18 Reports:
Wednesday 9/17

Fished with Roy Herman and his wife Trish.  :queen: This was the first time that Trish had ever tried Northern Pike fishing (so she say's!). As usual she had the hot hand nailing 3 pike in short order. Although (hubby) Roy was somewhat humbled he was also quite pleased.

Now, Roy's favorite species is smallmouth as is mine, so we decided to change tactics and head out to "The Promised Land". Upon our arrival Trish managed to catch the first 3 smallies. In all fairness to Roy and I we helped her to get her rod in the water first and had to take time out to net her fish.  :whistling:

Today's trip was a late start and an early finish with the bottom line being another successful outing with a nice mixed bag of pike & smallies. Pike were fished in 15 to 21 fow and the smallmouth were caught in 25 to 32 ft.

Thursday 9/18

Today I had the pleasure of fishing Bruce Gonzalez and his 10 and 13 yr old daughters. Now being the father of two sons I remembered how my boys could taunt each other non stop at that age. I never realized that young sisters were no exception to the boys.   Poor Bruce didn't have much free time to relax with both of the girls keeping us busy all morning.  ;D

It actually reminded me of my younger days and fishing with my boys. It was a fun day for me watching the level of competitiveness. Overall we had a blast and wound up catching 26 smallmouth. The girls adapted real well to the use of spinning tackle and can now retire their old push button spin casters. The DNR states that if a child doesn't fish by the time he/she is 13 yrs old, chances are they will never fish in their lifetime.

Bruce can be proud of his youngsters especially when they were shouting to a near by boat to let those bass go instead of putting them in their cooler. I had to tell them to simmer down even though they were trying to send the right message.

See ya on the water,

Lee

***If a man is truly blessed, he returns home from fishing to be greeted by the best catch of his life.
