Lake Minnewaska

The night bite on Minnewaska has been really great.  It has been calmer waters than I like on several of the nights but still some great fish being caught.  I am STILL in search of the 30 incher...biggest this week for me was just a shade over 25 inches.  All fish were released except that I kept 4 the other night that were nice eaters for the weekend.  Beautiful nights on the water with the full moon, clear skies and fish snap'n.  Not sure if I am going out tonight...might stay over in the new luxurious 8x8 deer stand...aka "The Observatory".  Not going to hunt...just watch.  So far we have photographed 9 different bucks on PLM's 160 ac. "demonstration farm".  A few geese flying around but many of the reports are poor.  Everyone is getting anxious for the duck and pheasant opener...selling more shells.  Big sunnies all over on Minnewaska...just get to 10 to 16 feet for the really big ones.  I usually get a limit of nice sunnies as I pull my Reef Runners during the day for walleyes.  Big Pike...had a few people come in and say they caught 30 inchers.  I got a 28.5 two nights ago...it had something in its gut as it was huge!  A lot of smaller ones as well.  Bass all over!  We still have a good supply of Red Tails ($7 per doz. special) as well as shiners, suckers, fatheads, and all of the basics.  Should be some great nights yet to get out for some of those BIG walleyes...and a great chance of netting a 25 inch plus.  Guide services are available!!
