Being that we have a youngster on the team, I changed our team name to "Young Guns"

Pretty slow this weekend for me. Saturday, I saw a total of 2 deer, at 8:20 am a fork came down the hill and walked within 5 yards of me in my blind, he hung around for about 10 minutes and slowly walked away. At 8:45 am, a small nubbin buck came down the same path and stopped at every area the first did, when I first saw the deer, I thought it was a Doe, so I raised my gun, then noticed it was on the smaller side and had nubs.

The second followed the same route with nose to the ground and stayed about 10 yards for 5 minutes or so. I passed on both. Nothing else seen on Saturday.

Sunday morning at 8:25, the big boy came in, never heard him, just caught some movement to my right and looked over, he had his nose to the ground and moving fast, not running though. Stayed about 80 yards up the hill and never stopped to give me a shot. I got a good look though, it was a very large bodied 8 pointer with a nice wide and thick rack.

Maybe he'll come in range for my daughter this week, I'm holding out for the 16 that has been seen on the property this fall.

Besides that, not much shooting in the area, it was terribly windy both days and chilly too.

How'd the rest of the team do?

Well I sat with Oober all Saturday and Sunday.  No deer down but he tried very hard.  Saturday we only saw one buck.  Then Sunday, the deer were not moving.  By noon, we heard only 2 gun shots.  After about 3pm the sun came out and brought the deer but even after seeing 6 deer all afternoon, he didn't have a clear shot at any of them.  He showed the restraint of a seasoned hunter.  He took no pot shots and make no mistakes.  Im pretty proud of that kid.  The land owner said he could come back and will set that up with me later.  And we're going up north this weekend so I'll set him up in a good spot.
If ya don't know where ya are, go back to da beginnin.
