Since my chronic pain has increased, and my tolerance for narcotics has also increased - my doctor now has me on 100 Darvocet N-100's per month, 30 Demerol 50mg per month, 60 Lyrica 70mg per month (deadens nerves), and 100 Naproxen 500mg for the inflammation in my neck, which is a result of arthritis and causes pinched nerves in both arms.

I have severe chronic pain in my face, from when I shot myself, and due to a slight curvature of the spine I have pinched nerves in both legs, including the sciatic and femoral nerves.

The doctor is also going to start me on 200mg of Tegretol daily. Although it is a medication used primarily for seizures, it has been found to help patients with facial pain (the trigeminal nerve).

Anyhow, I can't "legally" drive, and I've been told I should not hunt alone, or sit in a treestand, while I am on narcotics (which is now 24/7). So - until either the pain subsides (unlikely) or I can get my son or son-in-law to hunt with me, I'm taking it easy this year -and I will try to live "vicariously" by helping you guys bag BIG bucks.

So, PLEASE - all of you - let me know what is going on out there, and if and how I can help you. I REALLY enjoy helping, and hearing your stories.

You can e-mail me at TRMichels@yahoo.com

With peak breeding in progress in many areas, I'm posting an article on Choosing Stand Sites. I hope it helps.

God bless and good hunting,

Have you thought of seeing a chiropractor??  I've heard good things about them helping with inflammation and pinched nerves.  Then you could get off all those meds and get back in the stand.

Sjohnnie26 is right.  Chiropractors perform miracles every day, without drugs or surgery.  They take great interest in getting patients back to what they enjoy doing most in life. If you want to get back in the woods,  I think it would be in your best interest to give it a shot.

Good luck getting back in the woods this season TR.

I'm sure the members of MNO can provide you with outdoor experiences that you can vicariously live through when reading the e-mails.

Realize that my dad was a Doctor, and that I've been to the best doctors at the University of Minnesota, HCMC and Mayo clinic. And that a chiropractor cannot do anything about my facial pain, because it is due to my injury, and appers to be affected by Barometric Pressure; and, since my lower back is fused, it cannot be manipulated, and manipulation of an arthiritic neck would have to be fairly frequent, and I don't have the money, time or patience to see a chiropractor.

This is my lot in life. My facial pain, which is the worst, will never go away, unless I consent to surgery that will destroy (sever) thte trigeminal nerve in my face. And I wil not consent to taht, because the last time they tried, it did not work.

OH - I forgot to add - I also have carpal tunnel syndrome in both wrists.

It is all a result of abusing a body not meant for heavy physical labor, and old age. I'kll be 50 in March.

But - If I can help you guys hunt, let me know.

If you give me enough information about the lay of the land, what deer sign is in the area, and what the deer are doing, on a weekly basis, I can figure out what is going on, and often the best places, times and techniques for hunting there.

I'm currently helping about 10 guys on 20 other Talk Forums. It's just ---- what I do.

God bless and good hunting,

i used to work at medtronic and they have a "pain pump" which they implant and then have leads running to the nerves that are causing you pain. then it delivers pain meds right to the problem and your not fully medicating your body just the problem area.. could be worth a shot.

I know you came here for an escape sorry to "suggest" something different so.. heres an issue we're dealing with in our group. i own 40 acres in mcgrath, we also have permission to hunt a 40 down the road from us. we have a decent shack on the land we own but have always sent a few guys down the road to a proven spot due to the amount of guys. now this spot they just planted what I would guess to be winter wheat or rye.. the field is trampled looks like a heard of deer out there. now I find out we have only 4 guys in the group this year (told someone to stay home due to lack of effort on their part). we would all fit on our 40 this year (we have state land behind us we use as well)... the question... would it be better to cover all of one 40 or just the hot spots on 80? I just have trouble giving up a good proven spot..   and good luck to ya...
