A trip to low has to include a stop at upper red lake, stop into westwinds or look up cookie or meadowcreek for a current report. Red lake is an excellent fishery. Otherwise the rainy river is a good place for crappies too.

Steve:

Stay in a sleeper for the experience on LOTW not the action.  While there are some nice walleye caught after dark, most action will come from the eelpout.  LOTW action is best between early am and dark.

i have fished red in the past and did so well with the crappies that i dont think i will be able to enjoy it as my hopes would be too high. so i figured i would just try LOTW because ive never been on the ice there. i really want to try for some lakers but dont have the gear and just want to kind of relax for the few days.

I think we are heading up for New Years. We have been doing that the last 3 years. We bring our own houses.
