After all the abuse that John Schemeckle had taken from me on his guide trip last week, he still decided to come back for more punishment today. John and I started the day working for smallies along the north shore. The average size on the smallies has begun trim down somewhat with many of the 15 & 16 inchers showing up in the spots that held all larger fish for the last 3 weeks. We spent a more relaxing day today with lots of laughs and digs thrown back and fourth.
I suggested giving the largemouth bass a whirl for a change and John said let's give it a go. The shallow weed growth in many areas seems to be behind schedule in comparison with the last 2 years. There is still plenty witches hair (green slime) covering the lake bottom. If we could only turn That stuff into fuel!

Found some decent largemouth in 17 ft of water and were able to pluck out a 1/2 dozen or so. Large bluegills seem to be sitting on the breaks in 17 to 20 fow and are very aggressive now.

Good fishin,

Lee Borgersen
