Was on Bowstring the other day and caught a few nice walleyes, but we seemed to have missed the bite. Showed up at 9 and caught 4 right away and then had many lookers after that. Should have been there 2 hours earlier. The ice was about 11 inches with ALOT of slush. I took my wheeler out with the chains on and made a hell of a mess. Stood in water all morning. Gonna hit it hard for the next five days around the area, so I should have some better reports then! :fishing:

Went out on big pine lake in ottail co, and put bigger fish house N.W side of the lake off #8 Ice Depth Ice is 14” 10” was good ice with little snow. SW side was in poor condish as there had been more water on the lake one fish hose is now frozen down to the lake the N.E side of the lake off #53 as 16” but 11” of better ice and more snow as the middle of the lake not safe to drive a full size truck on the lake. The ice is not as safe as a present think and slow down when drive on the lakes.

Put fish house in 24 feet had some nice bite but no taker did not fish to long today but planed on going to tomorrow so I will keep you all post on how think go. wildlifeminnesota

Ice along the shorelines is slowly beginning to melt with some folks using planks to walk out to safe ice. Ice thickness is about 10"/12" but the quality of the ice is diminishing daily. :fishing:

Twenty-four to thirty inches of ice still on the lakes up here in Ely. Some busted up and slushy areas around the ramps, but still mostly safe to travel.

We are ice fishing and here's a report on ice in the Ottertail County area:

Otter Tail Lake - 4-8" and making ice.
Rush Lake - solid 8"
West Battle - solid 8"
small lakes are between 6-10"

So we have fishing going on here!  Fish houses with folks driving 4 wheelers are now common sites.

call Ken's Tackle, on Otter Tail Lake (Battle Lake, MN) for the latest updates.  218-495-2895

I was on Red Rock Lake here in the Twin Cities last weekend and the ice was a constant 6".

Nothing but a lot of small sunfish.  Does anyone know if there was a winter kill out there last year?

News from Ken's Tackle up in Battle Lake, MN

Otter Tail Lake - ice is 1-8" - you need to be very careful - it's only been a week since the ice over.

Battle Lake - 4-8"

Smaller lakes are pretty good for ice - we are also getting great results with Panfish on the smaller lakes.

Walleye are also bitting.

For up to the minute info - call Gary at Ken's Tackle - 218-495-2895.  www.kenstackle.com
