12-28  11am  Reports of bad ice coming in from several locations, East Lake primarily has had a couple trucks drop their front tires through down by Rush Lake Resort,  nothing major, just a good wake up call that it has been very warm and wet the past couple of days.  Lindstrom Bay reported to have lost some 3 inches of ice in spots, still around 12",  watch areas where the land surrounding the ice is a large hill, water rushing downhill deteriorates the ice faster.  Stay on the "roads" and you should be ok.  Also reported from East Lake, 6" of water on top of a couple 'roads" where  too many people drilled their holes too close to the road again, and flooded it, happened last year also.  With temps expected to go back down this week, we should see things firm back up, but in the meantime, BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!  Stick to well travelled areas, and if you see a dangerous area, please call us so we can warn others..763-689-1088
12-28-08  16 inches of ice, but in some places 3 inches of slush on top of it.  Does not seem to be deterring the fisherpeople or the crappies!  We did hear of a bad accident on the ice last night out by the public access, so far  all we have heard was that someone was run over while checking a tip up, we do not have any more information..lots of inquiries this morning, but that is all we know, sorry!  Just reminds everyone to be careful out there.  This is one of the  best winters yet, with snow, ice and a panfish bite that just does'nt quit..a chance for everyone to enjoy all the lakes have to offer from sledding to fishing..Walleye deep and hungry at dusk and dawn yet..although seeing a little more action in the evening around the higher (18-25') ledges following the outside of the lake topography.

Thanks for the report, and thanks for letting me recharge my battery. I did make it home and am putting a new alternator in right now. Thanks again!
