You can ice fish up in Battle Lake - central Minnesota - today!

Walleyes are bitting on the smaller lakes. 

Fish houses have been out for a while on some lakes.  Battle Lake now has a few on the west side.  Otter Tail Lake froze over a week ago - so please be careful.

12.12.08 update from Ken's Tackle

Otter Tail Lake's ice is between 1-8".  Be careful - ice has only been over the lake for a week.
Battle Lake - 4-8"
Smaller lakes are pretty good.

Panfish and walleyes are bitting.

Otter Tail Lake Area Fishing Report Update

Ice conditions on Otter Tail Lake are 3 to 8” the week of December 14th.  Growing ice every day.  Ice is very inconsistent so extreme caution is advised.

Perch are caught in 7 to 15 feet of water with a jig minnow combination.  Maynard Jigging Spoons are most popular.

Walleye bit is starting slower than expected, but are being caught in 8 to 25 feet of water.

Smaller lakes have good ice and pan fish bite is starting to pick up.

West Battle Lake is producing crappies in 22 feet suspended 2-4” off the bottom.

Ice conditions on Otter Tail Lake are 8 to 18” the week of December 28th. Some slush in spots and in others 2 feet of snow.  Some plowing is being done so there is access to the lake.

Perch are caught in 8 to 30 feet of water with a jig minnow combination. Maynard Jigging Spoons are most popular.

Walleye’s are being caught in 15-25 feet of water with a jig & minnow.

Smaller lakes have good ice and pan fish bite is good.

West Battle Lake is producing crappies in 22 feet suspended 2-4” off the bottom.

Any new updates? I am thinking of going to Battel this weekend. I have only been there once with minimal luck. I have been to Kens though! I recognized the bait shop from the picture. The cabin we stay in is not far from there at all. Any tips/updates would be great!

We talked on the phone yesterday but here's info for others who might watch.
On Otter Tail - we have a road plowed and you can leverage that - stop in and I'll give you direction.  There is some slush on the lake.  All accesses are open
With the warm up this weekend we are expecting a better fish bite.

Ice conditions on Otter Tail Lake are over 2 feet. Some slush in spots.  Plowing is being done so all accesses are open.  Best means of transportation is snow mobile.

Perch are caught in 8 to 40 feet of water with a jig minnow combination. Maynard Jigging Spoons are most popular.

Walleye’s are being caught in 10- 20 feet of water with a jig & minnow.  Most caught by the first breaks.

Smaller lakes have good ice and pan fish bite is good.

West Battle Lake is producing crappies in 22 feet suspended 2-4 feet off the bottom.

Plowing is being done so access to and on the lake is available. Snowmobiles are the easiest way to get around today.

Perch are caught in 10 to 35 feet of water with a jig minnow combination. 

Walleyes are found on the 30 foot hump – jig & minnow work best here too.

Northerns are on the weed lines and frozen smelt and tip ups are working great!

Smaller lakes are producing sunfish and crappies.
