I am wondering if anyone has some suggestions for a good spot to fish carp from shore. I'm in Maple Grove so anywhere from Anoka to the north and east - and maybe Rockford to the west would be a handy distance.

Also might be a good excuse for a little get together...

Thanks for any suggestions.

Shady Oak lake in Hopkins has places you can fishing for them from the shore.  I remember have a pretty big one swim by me when I was fishing out there a couple years ago.

Yep, I've heard good things about the Coon Rapids Dam for carp.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.

A good recipe a guy gave me for carp a while back:

Gut carp, throw out organs, and descale the fish.  Lather in butter, garlic and pepper extremely liberally.  Place on wooden board(any kind of wood will do) and cook in grill on medium for about 1 hour.

Take board out, throw Carp in garbage, and melt butter in dish to dunk the wooden board in while you eat it.

I guess I just want to know why you want to fish carp from shore first before I divulge anything.

Well Ken I'm glad you asked. I think it's because I did some fishing like that when I was a kid and it's extremely relaxing and uncomplicated. Lawn chair and a case of beer. And I think I want to see if I can find the perfect "Y" shaped stick.

The Coon Rapids dam is about it unless you get a a private home owner to take a liking to ya. That sounds like good childhood memories drinking beer on a lawnchair with a doughball on your line. Bassett creek in N Mpls. is a gimme for carp. And if you hit it right in early may at the latest a morning after a good rain the access at Eagle will give you a good run.

Carp fishing can be especially fun if you use a low pound test line.  Then you really have to work to get those suckers in...
