Unlimited fishing on Little Andrus

To restore the stream trout fishery in Little Andrus (Snowshoe) Lake, northwest of Outing in Cass County, the DNR will treat the lake with the fish toxicant Rotenone. Treatment will take place in early October.

Before reclaiming (treating) the lake, the DNR will allow unlimited fishing in the lake through Sept. 30. This allows anglers possessing a valid 2009 fishing license and trout stamp to take fish in excess of daily size and possession limits.

Rotenone is a naturally occurring compound that will be used to kill the remaining fish in the lake. It will persist in the environment for only a short time. The DNR will stock the lake with stream trout in the spring.

State law prohibits the use of explosives, firearms, chemicals, spring devices, snagging or electricity for taking fish.
