I am looking to buy a sort of all round gun for all sorts of small game, turkey, pheasents, quail, all that good stuff. Then I was looking for another gun for all sorts of deer, bear, and other large game. Looking for something cheaper for my first guns.

Do your self a favor and just get a REMINGTON 870 if you want to save a few bucks find a used one. You live in MN go to ahalmans in morristown

Gotta go with a shotgun with bird and buck barrels.  That's an easy one to answer.

The key word in this post is "CHEAP". I bought one of these guns for my brother and man o man am I sorry.

Go with the Remington 870. SOLID gun. You will know what I mean when you hold it. Grab a Mossberg 500 hold it, rack it and just get a feel for it and then pick up a Remington 870. You will feel the difference. Great all around gun that will last a lifetime!

i own a mossberg 500 and its my slug gun and i love it. its very accurate. not hard to deal with at all, but neither is the 870. it all depends on what you like. yes everyone here can recommend something which is what your asking but you should also be comfortable and confident with what your shoot also. personally i would find 2 "cheap" guns. one shotgun and one rifle. shotgun i would say the remington 870 or the mossberg 500. and rifle i would say a remington 7400(pump) OR remington 7600(semi-auto) both are pretty close on prices where ever you can find them used, i bought my 7600 for 250 bucks. which is about median price for a used one. just about everyone in my deer camp shoot a 7600 and they will all swear by them.

I have to agree with everyone else.  I use a Rem. 870 for deer, duck, pheasent and turkey.  Works great for all of them!!!  Plus, they arent too expensive and they will last for YEARS.

Ok thanks guys for your help so I will probebly get the Rem. 870 if it feels right for me. So what do you guys recomend for a rifle? It would be more for deer, and bear, and for whatever lies in wait for me in Canada. Yes these would be my first guns I am done with gun training late this month.

the 30-06 is one of the best all round rifles for everything in north america. bullet weight varies greatly with that gun. now brand is entirly up to you.
