Hi Vickie,
We had a pretty good opener, and Ice did great, when he wasn't bringing in the decoys ;D ;D ;D. Guess I still have a little work to do.? Of Course, I forgot to bring the camera both days!!!.?

this was one of the better openers over the last few years.  Boy, Sat. morning we sure saw the divers.  Lots of ringbills around, not a lot of puddleducks though.  And lots of geese too.
We got 2 redheads, 1 bluebill and 4 ringbills on Sat.
Sunday, not as many birds flying around... 3 redheads, 2 woodies, and 5 ringbills. And 2 bonus big honkers.
i'll have to update with pictures later.

I've had a good opener this year! Way better than years in the past. In fact I have shot a Goose everyday since Sat.

There are few bennies to working the middle shift. I do not have to be there picking my nose till 3pm! So I get the chance to hunt just about evry morning.

Today was specail for me. This was the first time that I was able to hunt ducks with my dad. He lost his job after 25 years of service so he is in the dumps wondering what to do with his life. I suppose working that long for someone or something could change your life in a major way.

Needless to say we had a great hunt. We ended up getting a banded goose (MY 1st ;D) and another goose with some nice ducks, 2 hen green wings, hen mallard, drake and hen woody! It was great. Dad was really impressed that I knew what I was doing. I think it might have even suprised him a little. For the 1st time I was his guide.

Wack n stack...first off, welcome to MNO glad you joined us

I'm truly sorry to hear about your dad loosing his job. A thing that WAYYyyyyyy too common right now.Nobodies job is safe anymore. Remember that when you hit the voting booth this Nov.

I'm glad you and your dad got to spend a day in the field. Do it EVERY! chance you get. Time flies by so fast, my dad is 75 years old yesterday. I'm trying to cram in as much time as possible before something happens to the old boy...I love'em and will miss him more than one could know, when that time comes.

 Take care, Chuck

well... I guess I don't have any pictures after all since there were mostly on my dad's camera and he deleted them.? >:( but I do have this one off mine that I took before the 9am time while we sat in the blind watching flock after flock come in and buzz the decoys.? this one was about 10 to 9.? they landed in our decoys.? there was already shooting around us, (yes 10 minutes before the opener :police:) but we did the right thing and waited.

I post back and forth with a guy from 300 miles north of Winnipeg Canada. He says they have only had a frost twice so far this year and it was near 80 F just few days ago.

He still shooting Mallards full of Pin feathers and almost no color to them.

Another guy was at my house this weekend and their hunting pary just came from the Pas, in Canada. They were shooting Teal and Woodies still up there. He said there were all kinds of them there. I didn't even know Woodies went that far north.

Only weather is going to move them as they don't have enough hunting pressure to do the job.
