Friday afternoon my son watched a big racked deer at 50 yards.  He tried a few things but the deer basically turned around and went back where it came from.  About an hour later he saw the same deer, nose to the ground headed directly towards him.  When the buck was about 40 yards out he went to full draw and waited.  He had no shot as the deer (head still down) reached 30 yards.  Then the buck picked up something made a couple hopps to the side and then walked directly away.   All he could say was maybe he heard my heart beating.

That is fun!  I have taken a few days off and am going to hit the woods again in the morning and hope to see some more action.  I had definitely been in the October lull at my three spots that I have permission to hunt.  Here's to a recharged battery and the rut right around the corner!
