I made the trip up to Rocky Bay again today. Had a pretty good time. I was somewhat skeptical after the 1st weekend I went there but i really like that place. Very friendly and comfortable place!

I shot 2 Chukars today. I was working with the GSP today and wanted to use a bird that would hold tight. Well they sure did! Those birds don't move unless you flush them.

The dog was a gem. Hunts well but could hunt better! Once locked up the dog will not move..very nice. Moved in and had to get the dog to relocate once but for the most part everything went well.

Headed back tomnorrow. We are going to try a tandem.

For a GSP his retrieving skills are supurb. Retrieves to heel and releases the bird to hand. Not sure what textbook is for these dogs or how he was trained but that was really nice.

I'll have to get some pics tomorrow.

After hunting behind Luci today I realize that the GSP needs a lot of work!

Luci was a champ today...

Released 2 Roosters and 2 Chukar

Finshed with 4 Pheasants and 1 Chukar.

I missed 2 Rooster and 1 Chukar.


Had a great day and saw a lot of birds....there are scratch birds everywhere!

They had a youth group out last Sunday and they released somewhere around 50 birds and they got abot 10.

Last Saturday I think we released 60+ birds and only got 30 something...?

Fun....but not as fun as the real thing.

Mayfly, did you get a new dog?? I see you still have Luci, but it sounds like you were using a GSP.? That would be a great combo if they learned to work together.? Lets see some pictures.

I backed out on the deal.....After day 1 in the field I knew it wouldn't work.
