I have a '98 GMC Sierra. It's a 3 door ext. cab. I have a plain jane am/fm cassette radio in it and would like to upgrade. A buddy of mine has a 2004? or '05 Chevy Silverado with a killer factory Bose radio. It's an AM/FM 6 disc Cd, and XM/Sirius satellite capable radio. It will play cd's I've made, as well as mp3's. So for me this would be the "shizzle"  ;D . Especially considering I burn my own cd's/mixes and being in the sticks here in MinneSNOWDA, I don't have much to choose from in radio stations.
My question is:

Has anyone attempted and SUCCEEDED in making this swap? I have a model # for reference sake- GM # 15917881 . I've been told it won't work on 2001 or older vehicles-but I'm stubborn and want to make it work! (DETERMINED!!!)  I realize I'd have to get a new/different harness-but I'm willing to do what it takes to make this work! Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me! ~Woody

It wont work,,,,,

Even if the pig tail match and they most likely wont ,,,,,but say they did,,,,the ecm in the truck wont like any other factory radio hooked up to the pig tail,,,,,or the factory leads...

you would have to bypass of of it,,,,

your best bet is to get a after market one anyhow,

 good luck
