Well the boarder water between south dakota and mn open today, haven't been out yet(rain) and no wind. don't mind the no wind thing, it's the rain that keeps me indoors. I see a break in the wether is not far off, then lookout.I'll let you all know the results. :happybounce:

Well the boarder water opener wasn't to bad for the most part. :happy1: saturday was very ugly weather, but the fishing was hot. 50degrees, 25 mph wind, oh, and rain, all day. :titanic: we found the fish to be in 2 feet of water or less. We limited both days, all walleyes were 15 to 17 inchers. perfict eaters.fat head-plain red hook-slip bobber. lots of silver bass, all males. I heard from a lot of folks fishing from shore, they say saturday was good but not a bite today. I think it's due to the wind blowing the food across the lake. The fishin was great for us,and I believe the spawn has not happened. The actions fixin to pick up. :fishing2:

Fished Traverse on Saturday from boat. Caught about 30 walleyes(4 over 20in.), 15 silvers, 5 sheephead, a northern and a 20lb carp. Fairly tough conditions: rain on and off (mostly on...), cool, and the 10-11mph wind on the WeathChannel turned out to be about 20-25... Our fish were in 5-7ft on the MN side(windy side). Jig and minnow, controlled drift off the sharpest breaks we could find. Watch out for the rocks!

Went out on Traverse after work for a couple hours yesterday. Only the second time I have ever fished it. 2 silver bass. Marked a lot of walleyes with the vexilar stacked up on a couple rocky points in 6ft where we had caught them Saturday, but they wouldn't bite. Tried casting 1/16oz jig/fathead at them, sat on top of them and jigged vertically, slipbobber. There was no wind, and I could see down 4ft. Wednesday it blew 50mph, then rained all day Thursday, when I got there it was dead calm and no rain. Had to leave by 8pm, the last 15min I started to get a few hanging on and speed baggin, but none would commit. I think if I could have stayed till dark probably could have picked up a few as the wind was starting to blow a little also. Talked to a guy that went out last Monday when there was some wind and he nailed them. He went out again Tuesday when it was sunny, clear and calm only picked up two at about 9pm. Moral of the story, you need some wind on Traverse, but not too much...Should have went to the dam.

I hit traverse thursday in the rain, first fish I caught was a 30 inch walleye, she was spawned out, I marked more fish but only caught a sheep head after that. I think the eyes are in the state of spawn yet,In a week things should get good.

Were you in the river or on the lake?  I heard some big fish were caught in the river by the silver bridge on opener. If you were on the lake that would make sense then that the spawn is winding down, and the big fish are moving back out into the lake.
