 From The Pas in Manitoba

Freaking cold and I wasn't prepared for it. The windchill is in the teens and I had to leave the field early. I had dressed for mid season 50ish temps. Oops. Hands were frozen rock hard by time I got out. Dog didn't seem to mind at all. Very few birds around on a great day , blustery, rain, sleet, etc etc. I ended up shooting a bw teal (yep, still up here) a goldeye and a spoonie. Not exactly the best selection but I needed something to warm my hands on. With this big north wind, I expect lots of birds to be on the move this week. Our season will dwindle down to just mallards, Canada geese, and goldeyes very quickly.

----------------------------

The next two days could be the best of the season.

we are heading for the blind soon.. This evening could be the shoot of the year.

If you can, I would hit the water the next three days

Dress well and ware your PFD!!! your life depends on it

 Good hunting, Bufflehead

This guy has shot his limit everyday this season, except this day.

What I was trying to point out is, this cold front is a strong one, reaching way into the far north.

Things could change FAST! and push a majority of the birds south in just a few days.

We just pounded them tonight, should have had our limit but shot poorly

I bet we seen a 1000 birds poor into the lake we hunted after shooting hours.

More birds than I have EVER! seen here in one evening, since I moved here over 20 years ago

The next couple days are going to be just outstanding
