Leech new report Sat. Sun.

If your timing was off and you never know when the Mayflys will hatch and a big storm moves in.

Fri the wind really churned the lake up and the hatch was in full swing. Dont feel lonely lots of people had the same tuff bite.

The bite was tuff I was out and Sat I hit 16 different spots and caught two Fish for the morning. Took a break Sat. then fished in Walker Bay into the evening and found fish deep in about 29ft on a break and had some action one here then another had to work, did release six big fish Sat & Sun morning from this spot 23" 24" 24" 24.5" 25 1/4 " 26.5" I used a green spinner and Leech to fool a very nice 25" fish. I had a friend I shared this spot with he put the 26.5" in the boat Sun when we were fishing, and one came off on a jig and Red Tail which was also big.

If you fished on breaks that came up on reefs 12ft to 14ft on a drift you would get a fish every pass or a bite the lindy and leech worked the best then a Red Tail and jig. The reef by Stony Pt was producing some fish drifting.

With the fly hatch the tullies are up high feeding and the Muskies are feeding on them we saw this during our fishing. If you muskie fish now would be a good time to throw some top water baits.

The Portage Bay area has been steady with the hatch using crawlers and spinners the crawler is a good choice when the hatch starts as it looks like a mayfly, so as they say match the hatch.
