Fishing Report Sunday May 30th

Today I had Jamie Beckley and Eileen Farmer aboard during the holiday weekend. I got to the launch extra early because of the holiday circus. 4:00 am and no boats at the launch. My clients weren’t due till 5:00 am so I had time to kill. I couldn't believe not even one more boat till 4:45 am. During the week it's even more crowded.

Jamie and Eileen arrived and it was off to the races. I told them that the fishing had been a little spotty, but we'll hammer the water hard and get us some action. The first hour was very slow so Jamie decided to start emptying his tackle box in search of the magic bait. Meanwhile Eileen was content to follow my original instruction. She was on a mission and not to be denied. Bang we started to pick up some bass as Eileen was following the game plan to a tee. Meanwhile back at the ranch Jamie was persistent as ever rummaging through his tackle looking for that one killer bait.

The fishing wasn't fast and furious but if you stuck to the original game plan you would continue to be rewarded with a bass here and there. Jamie figured he'd climb back on the band wagon since Eileen was slowly building an insurmountable lead and he changed over to a crawler. Of course about that time we had hit a dry spell. Therefore we headed to the public facilities in Geneva Bay so Eileen could put on a little lipstick and fresh in up for those big smallies. Meanwhile Jamie was back to rummaging through his tackle box in search of that elusive combination bass killer.

Back to the battlefield we went where Eileen Began talking smack to Jamie. I new this was coming by the look on Eileen's face every time she pounded another fish. Jamie tried to defend his honor but It was useless after she had just landed her best smallie of the day. "It's over man" I stated, your lady just kicked your butt and you'll just have to live with it. The bottom line was a whole lot of fun for all. Most of our fish came from 15 to 18 fow.

The lake got very busy about 9:00 am and continued to get worse by the hour. We called it a day at 12:00 pm and it took me 50 min to get the boat out due to the lines and the launch attendant that never took charge of the jam-up. This was not the regular attendant. Instead of one in and one out he let all the boats stack up along the dock and nobody could launch or tie up. So there we sat.

See Ya on the water,

Lee

**With every trip I collect new mementos, though few are collected in scrapbooks. And all who fish across the land collect them too. They are the images from first light to last and from first fish to last. And we'd share them in a minute. Some recall particular triumphs, often preserved in snapshots and clippings, while others we tend to hide, at least until the time we're ready to laugh about them. Daybreaks, rodbrakes, heartbreaks, muggy nights, and foggy mornings. A hundred things that worked, and a thousand more that should have. That's fishing.
