got the portable put up this weekend... and built a new one in a great spot.  With the cold and some snow on the ground... this is going to be a great year.

couple of scrapes back there too...

last night at god's country outfitters, when we were gasing up the truck for today, darwin was outside at the back of a pickup with a man dressed head to toe in camo.
"horns"? I asked.
he just smiled and nodded.
I went over to inspect his kill. it was a dandy ten pointer with a very nice rack. wide and tall.
he said that the big doe laying next to the buck, came out about a half hour before 0-dark-thirty and he put an arrow in her. watching her pile up not far away, he decided to knock another arrow while he calmed down. ten minutes later, this big bruiser came trotting by and he smacked that one almost exactly like the first!
this one dumped a little short of a hundred yards away.
he said what makes this so special to him was that he and a buddy were down at camp ripley the day before and his buddy shot a nubbin buck, and five minutes later a very nice ten pointer almost a twin to this one came by and he plugged it as well.

I guess he didn't want to be out done eh??!

the hocks were stained and pungent. the pre rut is going on now and buck activity is really starting to roll.
we saw a nice ten point buck on the way to duck hunting early this morning. not real big, but a nice uniform rack any hunter would be proud to pop.

one more day of work for me and I'm going to be spending alot of time in the stand. :)
take a kid hunting and fishing!!

Hey knock it off I'm not laid off yet. 5 1/2 blocks of streets to build yet, about a week in good weather.

I went out and finished tightening up a couple of ladder stands and sighted in two rifles yesterday.

We took a drive around towards evening and checked for deer on the fields. The last couple of evenings n the way home from work, there have been deer all over the place. Should be another banner year.
