This pic is from a different thread.  I thought it would be a good learning tool.  Many of you may have heard that you need to tune your spinnerbaits.  This pic has 2 tuned spinnerbaits and 1 slightly out of tune.  Can you spot the one that was knocked out of tune by last hit?   The other two are right on.  Be aware they are not always in tune when new. (often when you get a great deal on them) I hope this pic will help you understanding how to tune a spinnerbait.  Don't be afraid to take your pliers to a brand new spinnerbait to make it run right.   Thanks for the pic Hunterdown. :happy1:

I'm going to say number 3 is out of tune, right where it comes out of the head.

I to think it is number 3 but  then I like my spinner baits to have the blades running close to the skirt and body and routinely squeeze them in my hand to bend them closer together.

I couldn't recognize an out of tune spinner bait if it stuck in my ear.  With that said, I would say number 2 simply because the two lines arn't parallel.  I usually just grab one and go.  If it get really bent, I will twist it back into shape.  Your never know when that fish out there is looking for the lure that isn't running perfect.  :rotflmao:

Lee said #2 is out of tune so it is.  Why?  The #1 reason is Lee said so.  The #2 reason is just as dead eye said.  The lines are not parallel.    #3 and #1 are right on the button.  Number 2 is not off a lot.  One nice fish can knock the spinner out of tune easily.   You want the hook  point to the line tie parallel to the top swivel pulled straight back.   Now in theory if your line is tied in the right place and doesn't slip that lure will run true.  Why? -refer to #1- and don't forget Lee is always right!!!   ;D ;D ;D     These little tips will help you understand why Hunterdown can be in the same boat with the General fishing the same lure  and the General will get a sore wrist from netting fish all day.  We will not even bring Up Bobby Bass.   He can work a spinnerbait with his busted wing and film all at the same time.

So I think the message here is anytime you are not catching fish on your spinnerbait it must be out of tune. Who ya gonna call - why Lee Borgersen of course. Lee you need a hotline and probably a skype thing. Or deadeye tell me everything will be all right.

Geez now I have to start bringing a protractor with me in the boat - I've got too much junk in there as it is - the General can vouch for that.

 :coffee:

Most everyone knows by now that you rarely get a serious straight answer out of me. Because this topic is actually an educational one I feel that I must fess up. Therefore, about how I knew it was the #2 spinnerbait that wouldn’t run true is not that complicated.

What I did was copied the photo of the 3 baits. Next I cut out each individual bait and tied them to my fishing line. When I tested each one out in the tub it was easy to tell which was the bait that didn't run true. Sometimes folks try to hard to over think a process  when the answer is right within your grasp.  :happy1:

 I was wondering about that to, since I thought that Lee was not to be playing with any sharp objects.. That and how do you start your outboard in a bath tub to troll, not nearly deep enough or long enough to get up on plane..

:banghead: No need to get the boat up on plane. I was back trolling. I'm only trying to contribute some helpful tips here and youzz guys are trying to find fault with my whole strategy. All because you couldn't guess the right answer to the spinnerbait quiz. :whistling:
