    Anyone been out recently.  I won't be able to get out for a week and am curious where those surface temps are at.  The nights are getting cool and the trees are turning up north.  The fall bite is coming.  If you have any temps please share them and what part of the state you were at.      ie.   North, South,  or middle part of the state.    :reporter;

     Thanks Bobby.  I appreciate the report.  I would have thought the water would be cooler than that.   55 degrees and dropping is what I am looking for.

   Outing mn. lake warmed up ten degrees to a surface temp of 60 this last weekend.  Predictions are for another mild week.   I never should have mentioned that I was excited to get on the ice!! :banghead:

Went out yesterday and today. It is getting chilly out on the lake with these winds plowing. Anyway, took the camera with today which also measures the temp. I think the lake may have already turned over as the temp was the same through the part of the water column that I checked. Surface temp was 56, five feet was 55, ten feet was 54, and that is what it stayed at to the 30+ feet that I had the camera down. Seems a little warm for turn over but the temperature seems to be equal through the water column. Which brings up an interesting thought. Suppose the lake had warmed enough this summer that when the water cooled enough at the surface it cause the density of the surface water to become heavy enough that the lake turned over. Now, as the water near the surface continues to cool to it's maximum density at around 39 degrees, and the deeper water remains around 54 degrees, could that cause the lake to have a second turn over?

Lake Geneva in S/E Wisconsin.

Geneva is 147 ft deep and the surface temp reached 82 degrees this summer. As of 2 days ago the surface is 63.4. This time last year it was 60 degrees.
