Cat Problem! How to fix it?

Is that what the bell on cat collars is designed for?  I had never given it any thought, but bet it would do wonders to put a crimp in their killing...

I guess anytime you have animals for your own entertainment, you have a responsability to keep them from causing a problem by running around free. In my line of work(Pest Control) I see this problem with not only the cats, but pigeon coops, feeding wildlife, etc, where we are asked to trap out problem birds, coon, cats, etc when they are drawn in or kept by others, without thinking of the neighbors property rights and right to live peacefully. 

Cats dump in people's vegetable gardens, flower gardens, sandbox, where they are working, gardening, or kids are forced to play in feces infected soil/sand.  They kill their native wildlife viewing opprotunities, bird hunting opportunities, and damage property by territory marking in others buildings, etc.  They also cause huge financial losses in many food industries by getting into large warehouses and deficating on palleted food goods, causing the fore mentioned power failures, and biting people/kids when they unkowingly try to catch a wild cat, thinking it is a pet.  If they cannot catch and test the cat, they must undergo painful rabies treatment and vaccinations.

Topics such as this one are posted to bring awareness and create solutions.   By sharing experiences and opinions we are building much needed awareness on issues we are faced with.   Agreeing and disagreeing is how solutions are created, if done tastefully.   The true intent of a topic needs to be the main focus in order to do so.  

I write about things I am passionate about and feel they need awareness brought to them.   Yes, some topics will be fun and some not so fun, none the less, they are very important to me and other outdoorsman.   I would not take the time to ask you for your opinions and recomendations if they were not.   Most of us are brought here by the same interest, the outdoors.  

If you feel my topics are simply to create arguments, let me assure you, I wouldn't waste my time.   I do it because I love our sports and the lands they take place on.   As outdoorsman we must address the bad and embrase the good.   Our land and wildlife are not renewable resources.   I simply want to leave Minnesota a better place and to all that have the same goal, I thank you for all I'm worth.

well said everyone. especially naturalistmn.  but joe im sorry you dont like what i said, but where did i say its ok to kill a little kids pet and tell them thats tough luck for them? i said that its something that has to be done(taking care of the feral cats) its not like i wake up and say im gonna go hunt me some kittys today.  but i have seen first hand what ONE FERAL CAT can do to a PHEASANT PEN in one night. so tell me is thousands of dollars of damages worth passing up a kitty for? would you like that bill in the mail because of your cat or the family cat? just because some of the people that replied are a MOD doesnt mean they cant have a opinon different than yours, and quite honestly im sorry to see you go.
