Myself and FireRanger ventured out to Pelican Lake (Wright County) today and did extremely well.  Lots of bluegills and a few 9" crappies.  Good ice near the shore line still and ice is in great shape.  Cold nights are helping extend the season.     :fishing:

Good to hear you guys got out.  Have the fish moved shallow yet?  I'm waiting for the snow to be gone and the ice to darken a bit.

Be carefull DDSBYDAY    Dark ice = Bad ice   the ice will darken when beginning to honeycomb.  Safer to wait and put your boat in then..

I need the honey combed ice for this.  I will be only in 5ft of water max.  Two cranks of a hand auger and you are fishing.  I will have my float belt on.  I also am right off shore.  I know it sounds dumb but it is crazy action.   This period is very short lived.  If there is a stick or a leaf on the ice you don't want to step by it.  I have gone through before but usually just one leg.  I don't recomend this to anyone.  It is something I enjoy and I minimize any risks that I can.  I don't plan on getting wet.   Black ice is too far gone.

We caught fish in 6 - 8 feet of water.  Ice was still plenty thick.
