Here's a lil something I found "browsing the net" tonight.?

It's new from AquaVu.?

?Standard Features Include:

Neoprene softcase with Velcro enclosure
200 kHz transducer frequency for maximum true resolution
18-degree transducer angle (equals 3-square feet of bottom coverage in 10 feet of water
Retractable transducer arm extends over ice hole or fits smoothly into softcase
1000-watts true RMS power
Target separation of less than 1/2-inch
Adjustable zoom can be targeted to view any segment of the water column
Adjustable sensitivity
10-level adjustable noise rejection
Auto range
Backlit night-glow display
"Ice Mode" heats LCD for continuous high-speed operation on the ice
Super low current draw for extended operation

Bass Pro has them listed for $229.00? Not a bad price provided they live up to their claims!? Curious if anyone has seen these in person, or tried one?? I'd be interested in hearing the pro's and con's of them as I'm in the market for something!? Something=Marcum, Vex, Lowrance, or maybe this? ???

I'll second that.

I used to have a zercom RTS and at first it worked great and it never really did work well in the cold. Maybe this one with the heating thing would work in the cold.

It looks like a nice and simple unit. I've always stayed away from brand new products though, i'll give them a chance to work the bugs out and then decide if its good or not after the 2nd year.

No matter which company you choose, there always seems to be recalls or problems that happen with the brand new gadgets.

Marcum had there issues with the VS560 camera a couple years ago and definitely came through and made that camera the best on the market, AquaVu also had issues with there cameras at first, I'm just waiting for the new Vex owners and the new Aquavu owners to go thru the same thing. FRUSTRATION.

If your looking to buy for this season, id look at the Marcums or Vexilars, they have been through a few seasons and have taken the abuse to know that they are good products. You can get either one for about the same price.

I'd recommend the Marcum LX3tc myself, great unit for the price, plus the customer service is unbeatable.

I agree with staying away from brand new products as it takes time to work the bugs out!  I just posted this to see what input everyone had.  Being as all I have at the moment is a Humminbird Silent Sixty I'm looking to get a real ice fishing flasher someday!

As far as the Marcum, no matter where I go (on the net) that's all I hear about.  Part of it is due to site sponsorship, but I also believe it to also be due to it's performance as well.  Personally I'm disapointed in the "new" Vexilar's.  For something "new' it doesn't seem like they did much in the performance area as much as they did in the looks of it.

If anyone has the Lowrance Ice Machines, I'd be interested to hear your experiences-good or bad with them.  I like the fact that you can switch from the flasher style display to the graph style display.

*I realized I hijacked this thread-and turned it around a bit, but it's MY thread so there!  :P ;D

My brother has an Ice Machine and if I had the choice between any of them that is what I would buy.  I really like the fact that you can switch between the different displays if you want to.  Personally I use a Lowrance 2200 from the 80's and I think that actually does a pretty good job of telling me where the fish are.
