Brainerd Guide Service, John Blong (218-825-8965) The colder weather might have pushed the walleyes deeper, but there?s still a fantastic walleye bite going on in the Brainerd Lakes area. Gull, North Long and Round have all been putting out their fair share of walleyes. Key locations have been the deeper lake structures. A jig/shiner, or a Lindy/shiner, has been an effective method of catching fish. If you don?t mind losing a little sleep, try trolling Rapalas in 4-6 feet of water after dark. This method has been exceptional on both Gull and Pelican. The crappie action remains consistent. Most of the crappies can still be found in the backwater areas. Small crappie minnows on a plain hook seem to the best technique at the present time. Look for the walleyes to move shallow as the daily highs reach into the 70?s.

???? spent three hours on gull river last nite and not much to tell ! fished for crappies? and all that i got was? a lone walleye about 12 inches? long . water level was droped 150 cfpm at the sylvan dam , and the water ran up stream so that put the fish in a no feed mood . try again before the water gets to hard for the boat.? ???
