Just wondering what most of you use.

I tried cajun red ice line last year and liked it. I am wondering if they make 3# test. 2 was a little light, 4 is too heavy. I may have to settle for 2# and just be gentle.

Can't find XT solar anymore otherwise I use Stren in the clear/blue.

I'm not too particular really. Just use regular mono. Don't care much for the clear stuff prefer the clear blue. Seems to hide in the water better.

Another thing I look at is how stiff the line is. The stiffer mono line won't tangle as bad but tends to come off the reel in bunches more often. So I go with the stuff thats more limp and pay attention when lowering the jig down the hole.

For my rattle reels I use 3' mono leader on fly line. It don't tangle. If anybody has a better idea for rattle wheels what is it??

I tied Vanish 2 and 4 lb on this year as well as some Fireline Crystal 6lb.

Last year I used MicroIce and found it to be a little fragile.  I wanted to see if the Florocarbon was any tougher and managable.

I also am interested in seeing if the fireline reatins water and freezes up when I fish it outside.  Past experience has shown that Power Pro ice was not a good option for outdoor fishing as it froze up way too easy.

I have several different types of mono for ice fishing over the last couple of years. silver thread I liked but it didnt last very long from season to season. I agree we should spool new line each season, but it is nice if you dont have to when you are in a hurry to get on the ice and happen to forget to do it.
I now use spider wire mono in 6 lb test. this is a nice change for me because it's as thin as 4 pound which i like, but tougher than any other 6 pound test I have used.
it's knot strength retention is superior to anything else I have tried too.
not expensive either.
that is what I have found to work best for me. I am sure you all have your favorites.
