We're heading out Friday after school.  Who's with me?  Or not with me, but at another lake?  Heading back to Pelican Lake!

I have to wait until Sat.  50 degrees and sunny.  The best ice fishing of the year will be here and gone in a week.  Maybe 2 if we are lucky. :happy1:

Still ice fishing here....finally hoping to get over to Leech this weekend but they are now talking another storm possibly on Sunday.  I went to Lake Winnipeg again last weekend..... kind of addicting  the ice was great, fishing was good but have had better, we did catch two "Masters".   Season is over tommorrow in Manitoba, so either perch at Leech or some slough in ND this weekend.
Good luck and be careful with the late ice. :fishing2:

Corny, I'm going to send you a pm.  Just in case you want to catch some crappies just out of Walker.   :whistling:

I was out yesterday with the Polaris and portable. Still about 2 feet of ice but they are talking rain here tomorrow and Friday. Not good for the shore line. Might be walking out after Friday. Was a really nice day to be out on the ice but my face got a good sunburn. It was so bright and white out it almost makes the picture look fake. Couldn't find the crappies but the perch were more than happy to jump on the hook.

Myself and the boy went back out to Pelican Lake again tonight after school.  Wet and slushy on top and 15-18" of ice left.  The ice pack is still in contact with the shoreline so walking on was easy.  Slow fishing and we saved 7.

Nice perch Corny.  I just got back from a failed attempt to get on the lake.  I'm done here.  I couldn't get on the ice sheet today.  I would have needed waders and didn't have them with me.  Enjoy your day.  Tomorrow isn't looking too good.

heading out in the morning hoping to find a morning crappie bite somewhere. then going to look for a few more tulibees for the smoker. the tulibees are easy enough to get but those crappies have been hit and miss for me this season. thank goodness for the canada trip

would love to get into a good crappie bite localy before the season fades away.

atv travel tomorrow but it will be day to day after that I think.

found a decent crappie bite last night.
tried again this morning early and marks were hit and miss. caught one, missed two bites.

may try again tonight, but there are a few (100's) more lakes I'd like to try before ice out.

bored six holes to the north of the main area, near an island on the south facing shore. the ice was not very thick, 16 inches? and the milky ice on top had the funky ice below disguised pretty well.
bored out in the middle over deeper water and the top was junky but the underneath was solid. about 22 inches of ice.
this was a local smaller lake, north of grand rapids.

bored holes on cutfoot yesterday and the ice was still pretty thick.
we will be fishing out there through the weekend I'm sure.

Based on the weather this week, I would regretfully say that the 2010-2011 ice fishing season has closed for at least the middle and southern part of the state.

I am officially declaring my ice fishing season over. Dropped through about 30 feet from shore this afternoon trying to get on the main lake ice. Luckily it was only knee deep but the ice really looked bad. The water is still too cold for anything to spawn yet that's for sure. ;D
