Towards the end of the week, sturgeon fishing has picked up.  Some groups have done well while others have struggled.  Run off from the tributaries has made the river murky and the current fast.  Most of the ice and debris have passed and the current, while still very strong, has settled some.  Anglers are using 8 to 13 ounces to hold bottom in the deeper water.  Many anglers are finding the fish off the edge of the current in 12 -15 feet, getting to bottom with as little as 5 ounces of weight.   Several monster sturgeon were caught this week.  We had reports of 67, 66, and 62 inch fish along with many in the 50 to 59 inch range.

The weather has been on the cool side with highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s.  It looks like it will be warming slightly as we head into Easter weekend with a chance of precipitation.

Hooking one of these giants is something every fisherman should experience.  We still have some openings for mid-week and into the weekend.

FISH ON!
