    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Lake Oahe is as full of water as I have ever seen it. 2011 should be a really good year for the fishing, Went cat fishing with Dale and Gary Loske from Monroe Nebraska on Easter Sunday. We tried creeks on the east banks of Oahe but water temps in low forty's so went over on west side of lake and found a creek with water temps almost to 50 degree's. We caught 33 nice catfish to 7lbs with around a 3 LB avg. in about 3 hours using cut bait so the cat fishing is excellent now. It has been a very cold and wet spring so far and walleye fishing around the Pierre area has been spotty. Was down to West bend on Lake Sharpe and had limited results as water temps still around 41 degrees there also so we need some 70 degree days to get things going for the walleye Was very good right around Pierre in river but that is spotty now and a lot of boat traffic. Hearing about some catches of Salmon and Northern Pike. Dave Spaid and I went out Monday for a couple hours and caught one Salmon and one northern trolling shallow around the dam. Bite for species other than catfish on lower Oahe/uppper Sharpe still needing some warm days to really get going. Will start to do fishing reports around every 3 days or so now.
Good fishing Hutch
