    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
We have a real cold spring going on with a lot of nasty weather so far but things looking up for next week. I took Doctor Doug Long from Omaha and his friends Todd and Steve fishing for a day and a half on 28th and 29th April. We started on Oahe around one o'clock on 28th looking for catfish /northern and ended up with 29 catfish and one throw back northern on dead smelt with slip bobbers. Went to west bend on Sharpe on 29th and did poorly in strong wind keeping only 2 walleye and one smallmouth but water temps coming up so fishing should improve. Big time wind on weekend with gusts to 60mph so weather a factor in all fishing.. Not many boats on Oahe and water temps main lake are low 40's s so looking for warm creeks or bays key to catching fish. Cat fishing good Salmon slow, walleye slow on Oahe. Fair to good catches of walleye around Pierre on Sharpe mostly around Bridges area with plenty of boat traffic. West bend/Sharpe just starting to go and if we get some 70 degree days should be good by weekend. Jig minnow/bouncer minnow rigs bait of choice.
