MILLE LACS – Malmo Market, Lynwood Elliott, State Hwy 47 and 18 East, NE corner of Mille Lacs (320-684-2295) Recent low temps have frozen the big lake over. Anglers are finding ice and having good early ice action. Most are fishing the East side as ice conditions seem better. Anglers are also finding ice on the smaller lakes north of Malmo which froze over about a week ago. Crappie action has been good, with limited walleye reports. Muzzle loader and bow hunters are finding more deer this week with the new snow. Grouse hunters have also been having good luck. We have switched over into ice fishing mode and are stocked up with the latest ice gear and bait. Ice is never safe, especially first ice.Always check in at a resort and ask if conditions are safe and follow their directions. Good luck, hope to see you soon.

Anglers are finding ice on Mille Lacs from 4"-8" thick on the East side. Most were reporting good action last weeked. Isle bay has been producing perch and walleye in 15' using fatheads. Walleye anglers are reporting good action up the East side and North end, fishing depths vary from 15'-26'. Jigging with fatheads seems to be the key. Crappie and perch action has also been good on the smaller lakes North of Malmo, Anglers are reporting ice up to 10" on the smaller lakes. Lows are expected in the 20's by the end of the week, that should maintain the ice. Make sure and check in with a nearby resort for ice conditions before venturing out, or give us a call.
