    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Fishing on both Oahe and Sharpe is still going strong. It is harder now to come up with numbers of 18 to 19 inch slot fish on Oahe but catching numbers of walleye from 13 to14 inches still easy. Fish over 20 inches are still around and biting and most boats coming up with some over's every trip. Everything from Jigging spoons, trolling lead core line, bttmbouncer/nightcrawler/chubs/leeches, lindy rigs and jigs and slip bobbering deep tree's working so go with what you like. The water on Oahe is dropping driving a lot of fish deeper but for the most part they are still coming up to the 20 to 30 fow to feed so moving a lot to find these up fish is important. Fishing shallow makes it easier to catch and release fish so if you want to do that avoiding catching fish real deep reduces mortality rates. You almost have to keep every fish you catch below 45 fow so trips can be shorter if you chase these guys .Bite is good on Sharpe from below Pierre to West Bend with fish coming down to 30 fow in Bend area. Dam to 212 Bridge on Oahe is all good but the closer you get to 212 bridge the more the little fish to big fish ratio increases. Fishing the CVA group for the Outpost Lodge and next report will cover that along with pictures.
