    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
The wind popped up a lot this week but it is easy to get out of it right now on both Oahe and Sharpe and catch plenty of fish. I fished up at Bush's Landing one day due to strong SE winds and caught easy limits of walleye in around 14 fow. Then spent time ducking the wind in the back of creeks on Oahe. Sharpe is also still going strong with easy limits of over 15 inch fish and if you are selective keeping only walleye over 18 inches for limits is not uncommon. Bite starting to turn more to jig/minnow fishing as water cools but crawler presentations still working along with pulling shallow plugs such as flicker shads the choice of a lot of guides and fishermen. This has been an exceptional fall both for the size and numbers of fish being brought in both on lower Oahe and upper Lake Sharpe. The fish on Oahe are still mostly shallow (15 to 25 fow) and under 10 fow on Sharpe. Boat traffic in both places is way down but I expect to see a lot more around this week due to the opening of pheasant season If the weather cooperates there should be a lot of fish caught and a lot of birds shot. Pierre, South Dakota really has it all and Fall around here is a great place to spend some time if you like the hunting and fishing. If planning a last minute trip check room availability as many lodge/motel's full due to pheasant season opener.
