Last Saturday I had a situation that really had my heart going.  I watched two deer enter from a swamp in front of me.  I sat down on the ladder stand and got my gun up.  As they approached I could see they were fawns.   I put my gun between my legs and got out my camera.  I took a few pictures as one stood 15 yards to my left and the other 20 yards in front of me.  After a while I noticed both staring at something past me to my right.  I slowly looked in that direction and saw a third deer 30 yards away (also a fawn) looking at the other two.  So, here I sat, totally exposed, gun between my legs, camera in hand, and deer close to me on three sides.  For all I know there was one behind me too but there was no way to check.  I felt sure a doe or buck would approach from the direction one of these deer came from so I slowly scaned the swamp, and woods behind all the deer.  After about 5 minutes the single deer to my right walked through in front of me (less than 20 feet) and met up with the other two.  After a little sparing, they established the pecking order and slowly fed off behind me.  I'm not sure what I would have done if a deer I wanted to shoot showed up while this was going on.  Here are a couple of the photos I took at the time.

30 yards to my right

Pretty cool.  I love seeing pictures of real deer taken in real woods by real hunters.
