with record high temps the soil is warming up quickly.  I am getting the itch to go look for some morrell mushrooms.  Anybody else thinking about looking?

I thought about it, but I assume it's way too early.  Then again, maybe we will have a long season.  I know a few years back I was picking on Memorial Day weekend.

I have found a few small ones on april 1st.  top of a south facing hill, next to a huge dead elm.

I hope they show up this year it seems like it is so warm the season has gone already.I walked a couple of good reliable spots already and it seems the leaves from last falls drop did not even flatten down or rot at all from the lack of snowfall and moisture.?????????

I was out today and would agree with the leaves.  Good part about that is they will be harder to find when the are small and it will give them a chance to get bigger because they will be shaded from the sun.

I think it will be another week before we start seeing them in the metro area.  Rain early in the week :happy1:.

They were already popping down in Cedar Rapids, IA last week...Illinois about the same time.  I checked my most reliable early season spot and found no mushrooms, but did pick about 20 ticks off me...
