Taking Kid #1 to a friends hunting land near Pierz.  Last year she shot her first buck there with a bow.  This year she hopes to take a bigger buck ,8 pointer or better.  All I want is to enjoy time with a friend and my daughter, everything else is gravy.

Sat morning we were greeted with this view. Last year kid#1 shot her deer a couple of hundred yards from this stand.

Here is a picture of my daughter on our way back to camp the first morning for a breakfast of french toast and sausages. The camp is in the backround.

After a couple of hunting stories and great conversations i found myself in a different stand. South side of swamp and I had 5 does come through.  The only deer in range were 2 button bucks.

Sunday morning found me in yet another stand. Postcard sunrise in a great location. There were fresh scrapes that showed up overnight.

We didn't shoot any deer, but it was a wonderful weekend that I won't soon forget.

Thank you Deadeye

Thank you Deadeye.  It was a very enjoyable weekend.  No red ceder stand problems this year, only the attack of the bees and deer ticks.  Found another one last night on my back pack.  I will see you at the swamp busters MDHA banquet.  I feel luck!!!
Shoot straight and make it a big one.

The first morning Kid#1 went to a stand that was about 125 yards from dakids.  During the noon break I could tell she really wanted to be on he own.  That evening she did not hesitate to go on her first "by herself" hunt.  Pretty impressive for a 15 year old.  We put her in a stand and said I would be back after dark to pick her up.  The next morning we 4 wheeled about a mile from camp.  I pointed up a trail and said the stand is several hundred yards up that way.  Without hesitation she walked off into the dark morning.  She was out of sight before dakids and I even got our stuff together.  Not many 15 year old girls will take a bow and head off up a trail (never having been on the trail before) in the dark to get to a deer stand.  Way to go Sierra (kid #1)
