So where is everyone going?
what rifle you shooting and scope?
what type of bullet and weight?
Does anyone have theres hearts Set on a specific deer?
Hunting in the Timber or on a feild edge?

Im hoping to get up to the family farm up by Park Rapids, if work allows it. if not ill be by victoria in the metro shotgun hunting.

Ill be shooting my charles daly 30-06 bolt action, with a federal barnes triple shock 180 grain bullet. ill be looking through my nikon prostaff scope

We have a few real nice deer running around. im hoping for the big thick 8 pointer i seen in the cut corn a month ago, we named him fat boy. hes a big mature deer, with tons of mass.

Ill be on the point of the swamp(bedding area) facing the corn feild(still hasnt been cut :banghead: ) hoping he comes out to check on the does

What about everyone else?

Gonna hunt with my bow all through rifle season! Shooting my Diamond Outlaw and using my Nikon spotting scope.  :happy1: Im hunting the edge of a swamp that butts up to wooded area where ive seen a nice 8 pointer and a couple smaller bucks.
A day in the woods is worth a month in the City.

I'll be using my old Remington 721 in the 270 caliber.  Win Fusion 130 grain bullets.  Leupold VII scope.  I will be in the timber waiting for a big one to make a mistake.

I'll be out, but not with a gun! Taking my oldest boy for the first time, he is 13. He will be shooting a .243 Savage bolt action with Federal 100 gr. Power Shok rounds. Have all of about 200 yards out the backdoor of the house to go, we are west of Rush City.Sure hoping he gets one! Good luck all!

If, and that's a BIG if, I do decide to grab a gun and hunt, it will be the good-ol' single shot .410 with a 3-9x40 scope and Winchester rounds, drop many deer with that gun!

Good old Remington 870 with a Hornaday rifled slug.

Hunting in Forest Lake on Carlos Avery access through in-laws land. Pretty private, only way to the spot for several miles is private land.
Friends are like buttcheeks..........crap might separate them, but they come together in the end.

Savage model 14 in 270 WSM or Marlin 30-30 lever action.

The Savage is fitted with a Nikon Buckmaster 4-12 x 40 scope
The 30-30 has a peep sight.

Which gun I use depends on where I'm hunting that day.  If I'm down in the swamp and thicket, the 30-30 gets the nod.  If I'm in a spot with longer range shots, the 270WSM, mainly because of the scope.

for the 270 WSM I normally use Winchester CXP2 ammo in 140gr but, like dakids, I do have some handloaded ammo left over from last season tipped with 140gr Barnes copper XPB bullets.  I may give them another try.

I haven't done any reloads for the 30-30 yet.  I have so many boxes of ammo left over from previous years it will probably be a couple of seasons before I need to.  For this gun I use the Remington Core-Lokt in 150gr.

Timber/swamp/field.  I will hunt the opening weekend with my dad, brothers and cousins West of Itasca Park.  Then I will hunt at my in-laws up by Fosston sometime during the week.  That's mostly open fields.  My dad's place is mostly oaks and swamp.

Yes, I have a specific deer picked out, but there are two or three others that I would "settle for" as well....
