I just needed to get a little hunting fix so my son and I went out this afternoon.  Short story is I must be rusty because I missed a doe.  Not sure what happened.  Maybe she ducked the arrow, perhaps she was a tad farther than I though and I shot under her, there may have been a small unseen branch in the way or..... I just plain missed.   She ran a little, stopped looked back for while then snorted for her fawn and ran off.  No blood on the arrow or where she ran.  I guess thats a wrap for this years deer hunting.

We might get out tommorrow night for our last hunt as well.  To bad you missed, it would have been a good end to the season.  At least it was a clean miss.  She will be back next year, just a little smarter.

Went out tonight and tried hunting by my parents house.  They have an acre of standing corn behind the house.  We had 3 does coming in right at dusk. My dad decided he was going to warm up the car to head to town for diner.  The deer heard him and stopped to see what he was doing.  Well you guessed it, He walked to the side of the house and let us know he was heading to diner and we should lock the door when we leave.  The deer decided it was time for them to leave post haste. I had to laugh it off because he doesn't know any better.  Sierra laughed also.  It was good to see her laugh it off because I think my dad felt pretty bad.

My dad was out this weekend and we have two youth tags left till fill by Jan. 15th. We took my two boys out and my oldest filled his tag. I sat with my older boy and my dad sat with my younger boy. My younger boy had just spotted one right when my older boy shot then that other deer ran off. We will get out a few more time before the end. It was a nice couple days in the woods.
